Who is responsible
This site is run by Shachar Hatan, trading as The Climate Baseline. If you want anything on this page explained, or you want your details removed, email shachar@theclimatebaseline.com and I will handle it myself.
What this site collects
One thing. If you sign up for the newsletter, the form takes your email address and your company.
The company field is there so issues about a particular kind of buyer go to the people who work with that kind of buyer. It is used for nothing else.
There is no account to create, no payment to make, and no form on this site other than the newsletter signup.
Why, and on what basis
Your details are used to send you Who Pays? and nothing else. The basis is your consent, given when you submit the form and confirm the follow-up email.
You can withdraw that consent whenever you like. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you.
Who else handles it
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) stores the subscriber list and sends the newsletter on my behalf. Kit is based in the United States. Their privacy policy is at kit.com/privacy.
Cloudflare hosts this site and serves it. Their privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Your details are not sold, rented, traded, or passed to anyone else.
Cookies
This site sets none. No cookies, no local storage, no tracking pixels, no advertising tags. That is why there is no consent banner asking you to accept anything.
Analytics
Visitor numbers are measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. Cloudflare states that it uses no client-side storage for analytics and does not track visitors over time by IP address or browser fingerprint.
What I see is aggregate: how many people visited, which links sent them, roughly which country and device. I cannot tell who you are from it.
What your browser contacts
Loading this page makes your browser fetch typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is visible to Google at that moment. Nothing else about you is sent, and no cookie is set by it. I am planning to host the fonts on this domain, which removes Google from the picture entirely.
If you use the newsletter form, your browser also contacts Kit in order to submit it.
How long it is kept
Your details stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. There is no archive kept afterwards.
Your rights
You can ask me to tell you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can withdraw consent at any point. None of this costs anything and none of it requires a reason.

If you are in the UK and you think I have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Raising it with me first is usually faster.
Changes
If what this site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. There is no version history worth keeping for a page this short.
